Everything Just Clicked into Place – for flute, clarinet, piano, violin, viola, cello, and woodblock

Everything Just Clicked into Place… – Performed by the Empyrean Ensemble

Everything Just Clicked Into Place… is a lightly programmatic piece written for the Empyrean Ensemble. The piece itself focuses largely on timbral movement, passing notes quickly between instruments. The sounds themselves are meant to evoke wooden mechanisms clicking or slotting into place, starting with single instrumental lines made of very dry notes passed between the players, and culminating in long, drawn-out attacks where all of the instrumentalists play at the same time. This piece is about seven minutes long.
