I started working on Hidden Gems when I was presenting the thesis for my dissertation. I wanted to write something that would be light and not take up too much of my time, so each piece started off as something relatively uncomplicated, I would write the initial draft in about a week and then let it marinate so that I could edit when it wasn’t quite so fresh in my ears. This album was a blast to work on, and I was incredibly happy to be able to put all of these pieces together. I found that working through the process gave me the room to make several pieces which blend incredibly different kinds of music which I enjoy.
